Michael D. Miscoe is the founding partner of Miscoe Health Law, LLC. His background as a health lawyer is unique. Mr. Miscoe has a Bachelors of Science degree from the United States Military Academy and a Juris Doctorate degree (with Highest Honors) from Concord Law School.
Mr. Miscoe is a Certified Professional Coder, Certified Ambulatory Surgical Coder, Certified Urology Coder, Certified Chiropractic Professional Coder, a Certified Professional Compliance Officer, Certified Professional Medical Auditor and Certified Evaluation and Management Service Auditor. His substantial background in coding, billing, documentation, and reimbursement-related issues provides him a unique perspective.
Mr. Miscoe is the President-elect of the AAPC National Advisory Board as well as a member of the AAPC Legal Advisory Board. His contacts in the coding industry provide him access to the most qualified experts in every physician specialty.He is admitted to the Bar in the state of California as well as to the practice of law before the United States Supreme Court, the United States Third Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States District Court for the Southern District of California, and the Western District of Pennsylvania.
Mr. Miscoe has nearly twenty years of experience in healthcare coding and over seventeen years as a forensic coding, documentation and compliance expert in civil and criminal cases. He has an extensive national speaking background and has been published in numerous national publications on a variety of coding, compliance, and health law topics. His knowledge and expertise in the forensic analysis of documentation, coding, billing, and other compliance matters permit Mr. Miscoe to better understand and more efficiently address these issues for the clients he represents.
